What Are the Treatment Options?
- Cold compress: Applying a cold compress during the first 48 hours after the procedure can help control and reduce bruising and facial swelling in the treated area.
- Warm compress: After 48 hours, applying a warm compress may help bruising resolve more quickly. Warmth supports circulation and helps the accumulated blood disperse.
- Pain relief medication: If you experience pain once the numbness starts to wear off, you may use medication after consulting your dentist.
Bruising after a tooth extraction or surgical procedure usually becomes most noticeable 2–3 days after treatment. The colour may gradually change from purple to green or yellow before returning to the normal skin tone. It typically disappears on its own within 1–2 weeks.
