Summary
Dental implants in Turkey can be excellent treatment — but only when the planning is done by a named clinician before you board a flight, the implant brand is disclosed in writing, and the aftercare protocol is structured, not improvised. That is how İnci Diş (Dentinci) treats international patients at our Istanbul Zeytinburnu clinic.
If you want a real plan, the first step is not booking. It is sending three photos and your most recent panoramic X-ray (or CBCT, if you have one). A doctor reviews your case

Who dental implants in Turkey are for
You are a likely candidate if:
– You are missing one or more teeth, or your remaining teeth are failing and a long-term restorative plan is needed.
– You can travel to Istanbul for at least one short trip (usually 5–7 days), and ideally a second trip 3–6 months later for the final prosthesis.
– You are willing to follow a soft-diet protocol during osseointegration.
– You have, or are willing to obtain, a recent panoramic X-ray or CBCT scan.
Who they are not for
We will tell you honestly if you are not ready. You may need preparation before implants if you have:
– Active gum disease that must be stabilised first.
– Heavy uncontrolled bruxism (clenching/grinding) without a plan to manage it.
– Insufficient bone with no realistic graft or sinus-lift pathway.
– Uncontrolled diabetes, recent radiotherapy of the jaws, or certain medications (bisphosphonates) that change risk.
If any of these apply, your plan will say so before you fly.
What “dental implants” actually means
A dental implant is a titanium (occasionally zirconia) screw placed into the jawbone. After 3–6 months of healing — *osseointegration* — a connector (abutment) and crown, bridge, or full-arch prosthesis is attached. The implant replaces the missing root; the crown replaces the visible tooth.
Three things determine outcome more than anything else:
1.Diagnosis — adequate bone, healthy gums, controlled bite.
2. Surgical execution — primary stability, angulation, sterile protocol.
3. Prosthetic design — occlusion, hygiene access, material choice.
If a clinic quotes you without seeing a CBCT, they are guessing on point 1.
Number of visits and time in Istanbul
Most implant cases require two trips:
– Visit 1 : 5 to 7 days: examination, CBCT, extractions if needed, implant surgery, temporary teeth, suture removal.
– Healing phase : 3 to 6 months at home: osseointegration. We check in remotely.
– Visit 2 : 5 to 7 days:** abutments, scans, final crown or bridge fitting.
Single-implant simple cases can sometimes finish in one extended trip; full-arch and grafted cases almost always need two.
Recovery and aftercare
Healing is well-defined, not mysterious:
– Days 1–3: mild swelling, soft diet, ice intermittently, prescribed antibiotics and analgesics.
– Days 4–14: rapid improvement; sutures removed at day 7–10.
– Weeks 2–12: routine cleaning around the surgical site; no hard or chewy foods on the area.
– Months 3–6: osseointegration; remote check-ins at week 1, week 4, month 3.
Before you fly home you will receive: an implant passport (brand, model, diameter, length, lot numbers), your CBCT and intraoral scan files, a written treatment summary, and a bridge letter to your local dentist.
Risks and limitations
No clinic worldwide can promise 100% success. Published implant survival is around 95–98% at 10 years in healthy patients; lower in smokers and in cases with bone or periodontal compromise. Real risks include:
– Failed osseointegration (rare, but does happen).
– Peri-implantitis if hygiene maintenance is poor.
– Sinus involvement on upper-posterior cases — managed by graft or sinus lift.
– Inferior alveolar nerve proximity on lower-posterior cases — managed by CBCT planning.
We will write these into your plan if they apply to you. We will not list them generically and pretend they don’t.
